Join the Scottish Ghost Nights team in the Pentland Hills near the Scottish Borders as we seek out the Witches of Carlops in a fun packed night of spooky fun. (Includes 2 course meal. )

The name of the village of Carlops derives from “Witches’ Leap” (Scots: “Carlines Loup”) as near the south of the village there are two exposed rock faces about 20 metres in height facing each other with a similar distance between them. Folklore maintained that witches would leap from one face to the other, over the chasm, for entertainment of an evening.

We will be setting up base for the night at the 18th century Allan Ramsay Hotel, a former coaching inn (and one of the oldest in Scotland)  has it’s own tales to tell of ghostly activity……. When our crew first visited here we were stunned at what we encountered and even had money thrown at us from an invisible source….. There is a ghost of a teenage stable boy who still frequents the public area of the hotel and tales of beds shaking in the night with their unsuspecting occupants thrown from them…

Your night includes…

Your night will commence with tales of folklore and a walk to Carline’s Loup, which sits next to the old cottage which it is said one of the witches did reside. Then we will have a hearty two course meal at the Allan Ramsay Hotel before commencing the spooky part of your night. There will be an introduction to the paranormal and ghost hunting before we commence a traditional Victorian Séance in this historic coaching inn. There will also be opportunity to take part in experiments with table tipping, glass moving and spirit boards.

All in all this promises to be a night of mystery and intrigue. Will we contact the witches of Carlops? Will we speak to the dead? BOOK NOW to find out……
